Lighting

The lodge is powered by (Eskom) generated electricity but has a (low voltage) 12v DC solar system for backup lighting during load-shedding. We also have a generator on-site to power the freezers in the event of any lengthy power outages.

Lapa & Braai Area

The Wilds boasts a huge Lapa and Braai area. An ideal space to sit back and relax with drinks in hand, braai fire going, whilst taking in the spectacular sea views and surroundings.

Service Staff

Our helpers (Elizabeth & Luthando) provide housekeeping and yard maintenance services. Their costs form part of the daily rate. Elizabeth is renowned for her baked bread and fat cakes, so don’t forget to bring the relevant ingredients. She is also excellent at making breakfasts, but prior arrangements are necessary to source an additional helper for housekeeping services.

Service times:
  • Our helpers are on duty from 08:00 am to 05:00 pm.
  • * You are welcome to tip our staff at the end of your stay. tip - money-payment-coins-tip-finance-128
ADDITIONAL:
  1. The lodge provides Cutlery and Linen (sheets, pillow/case and duvet). Patrons can bring their own if preferred, including bath towels and blankets for added warmth during winter.
    • Consumables (to bring along) include toilet paper, air freshener, matches, candles, bug spray, bin bags, torch, and hand wash detergent.
  2. Treated water is available from the taps installed along the road in the village and other locations. However, the supply is intermittent, particularly outside the rainy season; hence, advise patrons to bring bottled (drinking) water.
    • The showers, toilets and sinks draw rainwater from our water tanks.
  3. Please note that the lodge has a septic tank that is a sensitive system, blocked easily by objects discarded into it that do not break down quickly. Examples include sanitary napkins, tampons, disposable nappies and similar products.
  4. There are shops in the village, but they sell the bare essentials, so please stock up appropriately before arriving. Should there be a need, the Ngcwanguba store carries a good range of products and is about a one-hour drive from the lodge.
  5. Generally, any vehicle with higher clearance will suffice to traverse the gravel/dirt road, but we recommend a 4×4 during the rainy season.
